I stayed at Blue Gum as it was convenient for a very early flight from Colombo. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining the cost of a tuk tuk and making sure that we got the right price. Also as my boyfriend and I had a very early start, leaving at 3:30am, the staff left out some tea to revive us before setting off to the airport. The hotel is clean and the staff are really lovely.

The English breakfast suits us well. It is in front of the airport. WiFi and TV in the room were useful. We loved staying at blue gum;))

I liked the personal service I received as I am a bit disabled so they ensured that I had a ground floor room. The staff were also very polite and friendly and the food was excellent.

Nice clean place. Staff excellent., could not do,enough for you. Hot water fantastic. Practically the best shower available in Sri Lanka. Manager can arrange lots of things like hire cars etc if you ask him. All 3 of us thought it was a great base for popping into Colombo just before you fly home.

Room was clean, breakfast was nice and served well, nice surroundings and plenty of parking.

I will make this as short and as straight to the point as I can. The manager and his wife are liars, cheaters and con artists. My wife arrived at the hotel 6 hours before I arrived in Sri Lanka and she was not informed about a so called early check-in fee. My wife only checked in one hour early and was not notified of this crap fee and yet I had a rather uncomfortable confrontation with the manager/managers wife over this issue. They were clearly in the wrong and simply put, just lied about notifying my wife of this fee and were willing to argue continuously until we paid it. Unfortunately with was not the last time we were almost bled dry by hotel managers, but after this episode, we were wiser to the thought pattern of some of these Sri Lankan people. I have travelled extensively and you may see other reviews I have made, that are good, as a comparison. These people at this hotel had a disgusting attitude to running the hotel and are just plain liars. Take your chances at this hotel people.

This is only a lodge,not a hotel belongs to star ratings. Rate is very high,price will be worth only charged on the half price., Location is far from the city, do not recomend this hotel

The owner Stanley was very friendly helpful. This came in handy since I was a lone traveler. Always willing to help. The place was quiet and clean which is what I needed. I would stay here again.

The room and attached bathroom were of good size and very clean with a good TV service. Close to airport....only 15 minutes by tuktuk but you need to arrange your own.

Location not so nice near a very busy road with few restaurants or shops nearby. Wifi didn't work in the room. Only in the common area 1 floor below. Compared to SE Asia, this place is expensive. As with all places in Sri Lanka, you get the feeling the owner/manager is always trying to get extra services from you and they are not very helpful in arranging or suggesting outside services like a tuktuk to the airport.

The hotel was being refurbished so there was no hot water.But all in all still it was nice staying there.

We used the hotel because we needed a stepping stone to the rest of Sri Lanka-and for that it was perfect! Close to the airport! We have been in Sri Lanka for a week now-and the best meal, was at Blue Gum! Important: You will not get sick from their cooking-and their local cooking is fantastic! The staff was kind and professionel. You can get almost everything- just ask! Seems like the staff will bend over backwards to help with whatever could be the problem!

It located near Columbo-you need the location near the airport-But Columbo??? If you ever been there, you will understand!
